It would also be nice to know what the expected maximum and minimum voltage readings are, so that information can be used in conjunction with the battery calculator to estimate battery life remaining, and it would be nice to know what the safe operating temperature of the motor is. Specifically, the manual mentions the rim sizes, but doesn't provide any information about the expected tire sizes, for when it comes time to replace the tires. More detailed technical specifications in the manual. (I'd be happy if the bike had a couple of locking latches on the corners instead of screws) While I'm very happy with the bike, here's some things I wish it did have, which it doesn't.Ī more easily removable battery (or at least more robust screws for the battery cover) for those of us who don't have a way to charge it without removing the battery. Riding in the rain, the bike hasn't had any problems. The bike does have brights, but they're aimed up at the trees, so they haven't seemed to be of much help, but I never use them since I'm riding in the city anyways. The headlight is very bright, and I'm very happy with it. During Solar's revisions when they switched to the Eclipse V2, the foot pegs are one of the things they upgraded, and they're wide enough to comfortably fit my entire foot. I have had a couple times where it didn't want to go, from a stop, but I suspect this was due to me absentmindedly holding the regen break button down, as the bike does not accelerate while a brake is activated it seems (this is a good safety thing imo, especially for those times I forget to put it in park and go to get off the bike) Some videos also mentioned that the foot pegs were to small. That was on one ride, and hasn't happened since. To address issues I'd seen in some of the review videos, over my 100 miles, I did have the motor cut out while at about 40mph, twice, both in the space of about half a mile. This does affect what types of insurance they're willing to provide on the bike. The insurance agency (Progressive) considers it to be an import, because the first letter of the VIN number is R. The MCO listed the manufacturer as Winmax Asia, and the seller as Solar Scooters (out of california) which led to some confusion, but I was able to get it worked out (Washington state). I have been able to get it titled, registered, and insured as a motorcycle, to make it fully legal. Support has been amazing and helpful every time I've reached out. I had a minor issue where the odometer wasn't saving between reboots, But support was willing to send me a video showing what connections to check. I got my bike about a month ago, and I've put about 100 miles on it so far.
